CASE STUDY: GUSTO VITA GELATO
We got into a fight with our client.
Food fight. Maybe we should’ve specified. Read how we set up a studio in the middle of a gelato shop, and ended up covered in cake.
Heavily tattooed pastry chef Mattia Taschera wanted the photographs of his gelateria to echo his own personality. The pictures we would take were to feature on his portfolio website.
Intensely passionate about traditional Italian gelato and the flavours he could fuse together, Mattia was open to our idea of “getting a bit crazy” with the concept. Cut to a steady stream of Italian swear words as he held dripping, freezing ice-cream in his hands.
Oh, and we threw cake at him. And took a portrait.
Everyone was very happy.
We set up our studio in a corner of the gelateria since we didn’t want to risk the gelato melting in transportation. The fact that we were shooting inside the store on a busy weekend night attracted customers, as well. None of this gelato went to waste, either, since we obviously ate it all.
